St. Patrick Society Members Interviewed for the Iowa Stories Oral History Project

A number of St. Patrick Society members participated in the Iowa Stories Oral History Project, a partnership between the Davenport Schools and the Davenport Public Library.  Each year a different ethnic group is selected and 2008 was the year of the Irish.

Interviewees included Pat Burke, Kathy Douglas, Leo Kilfoy, Jane Jones, Jim Mullins, Kelly Gilhooly, Pat Harrington Bade, Gerry Bade, Barney Barnhill, Mary Decker, Bill Fisher, Father John Hynes, Vince Ryan, Mike O'Keefe, Jennivieve Gabby Rafferty, Joe Nobiling, and Russ McConnell.

They were interviewed by students at one of  Davenport's intermediate schools. The interviews were videotaped and will be added to the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center at the Main Davenport Library for future generations.

At a reception on April 17th at Smart Intermediate School for the interviewees, students and their parents, the students displayed story boards they made regarding the person they interviewed.

Members of the Quad Cities Ceili Club performed a few dances and several Smart students showed a ceili dance they had learned from Pat and Gerry Bade.  The Mullane-Healy-O'Brien dancers also performed.
