St. Patrick Society Memorial Project
honoring those who came before us

Irish Memorial Location

The St. Patrick Society, with guidance from the City of Davenport Design Center, is working to finalize a proposal for the design of a permanent outdoor memorial to be located at the intersection of Second and Harrison Streets in Davenport, Iowa. The memorial will honor those Irish men, women and children who settled in the Quad-Cities decades ago. The location is a highly visible and important corner of downtown Davenport next to the new Figge Art Center and Mississippi River, as well the end point of the country’s ONLY interstate St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

California based sculptor and Moline native, Lou Quaintance, recently met with SPS representatives and the City of Davenport to discuss our unique memorial.  Lou is best known locally for his sculptural interpretation of John Bloom's 1947 Lithograph "Watching the Ferry" near the Davenport Water Company.  Click here to see Lou's design..  To learn more about Lou, visit his website www.quaintancesculpture.com.

The cost of the memorial is projected to be approximately $100,000.   The Irish Memorial Project needs your contribution to complete this effort; please forward your contribution to the St. Patrick Society, PO Box 4487, Davenport, Iowa 52808 – Attn: MEMORIAL. Please make checks payable to the St. Patrick Society. Stock certificates or other negotiable instruments are welcomed as contributions.  All donations are tax deductible (please check with your tax consultant). The St. Patrick Society is a 501 (c)(3) organization.  Donors of $300 or more will be acknowledged as a lasting part of the memorial.
