St. Patrick Society,
Quad Cities,
USA - Volunteer Registry
Did you know the
original use of the term 'Volunteer' dates back to the Irish Volunteers in the 18th century,
a militia corps raised in 1778 to help the Army defend Ireland
from foreign invasion? The
Irish Volunteers' name in the Irish Gaelic language was Óglaigh na hÉireann; translated as
"Warriors of Ireland".
The St. Patrick
Society would like to thank all of our past and present “Warriors of
Ireland” and encourage you to sign up on our new Volunteer Registry.
The Volunteer Registry is an attempt to improve our ability to
contact willing volunteers, communicate upcoming events, and invite our
volunteers to events such as the annual Volunteer Appreciation Party
following Erin Feis. We are
looking for those of you who have not yet had the opportunity to be called
to volunteer as well as all of you who have volunteered in the past for
the Grand Parade, Post Bash celebration, Cultural Events, Erin Feis, etc.
Please complete the following form and tell us about your special
skills and talents that you might be willing to use to support the
Society. We can’t do it
without you!
